History of the Clock Tower Walmley
Constructed in 1743 as part of William Champion's Warmley Brass Works, the clock tower, also known as the "Slab," was originally a pin factory. The three-story building is made of rubble with black slag quoins, and the central part of the building has a hipped roof. The tower itself has a saddleback gabled pantile roof and is set forward from the rest of the building. The upper storey houses an 18th-century bell and a clock with an octagonal external dial. The tower is connected to a single-story structure to the west, which is built of black slag worked to ashlar and also has black slag quoins. The building is now a community centre and is a Listed Building.
